He said that India’s focus is to increase the number of semiconductor manufacturing domestically. The government is offering support of up to 50% for setting up manufacturing units of semiconductors. The government’s offer has already attracted an investment of 1.5 trillion.
The Prime Minister also mentioned from the stage of SEMICON INDIA 2024 that India is working towards creating a skilled workforce in the field of semiconductors. The government is preparing a task force of 85000 technicians, engineers, and researchers.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present at the event. UP Chief Minister Adityanath spoke on the strategy and roles of Uttar Pradesh for the development of IT, and semiconductor manufacturing under the leadership of PM Modi.
India’s semiconductor industry is growing rapidly and its size is expected to exceed $55 billion by 2026. The growing demand for smartphones, automotive, and data storage is further accelerating the growth of this industry. In addition, major companies such as AMD, Applied Materials, and Micron Technology are investing in India, which will undoubtedly further boost the growth of this industry.
